Innovation Led Economic Development Seminar

Join us Thursday, March 12th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm to participate in an innovation-based economic development seminar.  Co-sponsored by MS South Inc and instructed by Mississippi Technology Alliance, the seminar will cover the following topics:

1. What is ILED? (2 hours)
What is ILED? provides an overview of global economic forces amplify the importance of innovation-based companies for regional competitiveness, and how communities can attract and grow these companies.  Participants learn that regions can benefit from a strong focus on innovation commercialization, high performance entrepreneurship and capital formation, as a part of their overall economic development strategy, and will practice assessing regional innovation assets and social networks. 

2. Angel Investing 101  (2 hours)
Angel Investing 101 reviews types and sources of investment capital available to Mississippi companies, including grants and loans, with emphasis on private equity investment and what investors expect to hear from an investor presentation.  Participants will learn how to access the Mississippi Seed Fund, Mississippi Angel Fund, and local Angel Investor Groups around the state, and how to form Capital Coalitions and Angel Investor Groups in their local communities.
